Boarding

We will now be providing all boarders who select ‘kennel food’ Purina ProPlan easily digestible diet – Purina ProPlan EN.

Purina ProPlan EN

• Provides complete and balanced nutrition for puppies and adult dogs
• Excellent palatability for patient acceptance
• Enhanced with dried Colostrum (dry formula) to promote intestinal and immune health
• Highly digestible:
  • Moderate fat
  • Contains a source of medium-chain triglycerides that require fewer digestive steps than long-chain triglycerides
• All dog boarders are taken outside twice daily for outdoor time in canine runs. All cat boarders are given time in an indoor area to stretch their legs while their kennel is being cleaned and food/water is being refreshed.

Optional Boarding Upgrades available to all boarders:

Purina Calming Care Probiotic Supplements.

• To ease stress and possible anxiety while being away from home, we are happy to offer clinically proven supplements to alleviate these possible feelings.
• The Purina Calming Care Probiotic Supplements may be added to both our feline and canine boarders’ food to help maintain calm and promote a more positive experience.
• The Calming Care Probiotic Supplement, in general, helps our patients cope with the changes in their routine and environment while boarding here with us.

Purina ProPlan Savory Stew or Pate diets

• Clients may select an upgraded feeding plan with Purina ProPlan canned food.
• The added canned food of savory stew or pate can help our patients who need a bit of enticement to eat and/or to enhance his/her boarding experience.

Large room size

• Upgraded space: all dogs boarding with us have a full run, but we do have a single expanded run to allow for extra legroom. Please let us know if you would like to upgrade your dog.
• For our feline friends, we have cat towers available for upgrading his/her stay as well.
• Limited availability and on a first come / first serve basis.

Playtime: We offer playtime for our boarders once daily. For our dog boarders, this includes running in an outdoor fenced area to chase, throw balls, or entice the senses and investigate the great outdoors. Our kitty boarders are allowed to roam an indoor area and can investigate smells and other enrichments provided.

Prescription anxiety medications are available to patients who suffer from separation anxiety or other anxiety disorders

• We know that kennel stays can be stressful for our patients, so we want to make sure to make this as comfortable of a stay for them as possible. For any current patients of The Pet Hospital of New Bern, and with your authorization before drop off, the veterinarian may dispense trazodone, an anti-anxiety medication, for those patients who experience separation anxiety or appear stressed while staying with us. If medically indicated, a prescription for trazodone can be given and medication be administered in the hospital to help with this anxiety.
• Any client of the boarding facility, however not yet established with the doctor, may be evaluated for a small fee and also prescribed this medication. The brief exam charge ($29.00 establishing care) will allow for the doctor to prescribe this medication to the patient. This service is only provided for the administration of trazodone. Any other medical concerns will be subject to a normal consultation fee.

Cost for add-on boarding stay

• Playtime, consisting of 15-20 minutes – $15.00
• Calming care probiotic supplements are an added charge of $3.00 per day (packet applied to food once daily)
• Purina ProPlan Savory Stew or Pate diets are available for dogs at $4.50 and cats at $3.50 per can.
• Bath can be requested and will be done the day before or day of pick up for a charge of $35 (includes hypoallergenic shampoo bath, blow dried and brushed out)
• Nail Trim – $25.00, add on nail grind for $12.00.

Boarding Drop off and Pick-Ups

Boarders may be picked up and dropped off anytime between 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays, and on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
